Visit the Stunning Garden in the Heart of Brooklyn – Brooklyn Botanic Garden
Experience the changing seasons in this leafy inner-city sanctuary, where specialized gardens as well as heritage pavilions showcase plants from around the world. Wander along Brooklyn’s Washington Avenue, and you can’t avoid stumbling upon this verdant 52-acre park. Brooklyn Botanic Garden is a city botanic garden located in the heart of Brooklyn, fostering delight and curiosity in the world of plants while inspiring gratitude and feeling of stewardship of the environment.
The Brooklyn Botanic Garden is as committed to education and learning as well as conservation as it is to inspire. Whether you’re wanting to find out something or just intend to take in 52 acres of natural charm, the BBG has greater than 18,000 types of plants from all over the world. The garden is open year-round and has plants for every season, plus indoor tropical gardens as well as bonsai trees. The main highlight right here is the Japanese Hill-and-Pond Garden, where river turtles swim alongside a Shinto shrine and are punctuated by wooden bridges and Japanese maples. The best times to go to are late April or early May when blooming cherry trees (a present from Japan) are commemorated in Sakura Matsuri (the Cherry-Blossom Festival), or fall when the deciduous trees blaze their colours. Another standout: the Shakespeare Garden, which consists of greater than 80 plants explained in the playwright’s works. After you have taken a break in Brooklyn’s cherished green space, current visitors recommend moseying over to 2 staples situated down the street: Prospect Park and the Brooklyn Museum.
Thanks to the garden’s comprehensive collection, which includes 13 gardens and five conservatories, there’s plenty of scenery to soak up here. And also, you can take advantage of year-round exhibits and events, such as family planting workshops and the Chile Pepper Festival in October. The Garden also offers weddings and private event catering at the Palm House and Atrium, in a gorgeous outdoor setting. Please note, Brooklyn Botanic Garden is open year-round, but hours differ seasonally.
